A man and woman are seriously ill in hospital after their car collided with a van. The crash occurred at 11.25am on Friday on the A6003, Burley Park Way, at its junction with Uppingham Road, in Oakham. It involved the man and woman's blue Ford Mondeo and a white DAF van. A man and woman were taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire where their condition is said to be critical but stable. The van driver was also injured and was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre and was later discharged. Detective Constable Paul Bingham said the Ford was at the T-junction waiting to turn right into the A6003 and the van was travelling along the A6003 towards Oakham when the collision happened. Det Con Bingham said: "We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand to contact us. "If you haven't already spoken with the police and believe you may have been in the area at the time of the collision please get in touch." Contact Det Con Bingham on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
