A man and his dog were rescued from their home this morning after an unattended pan on a cooker caught fire.
Fire crews were called to Kelbrook Close, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, shortly after 7am.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and led the man and his pet to safety.
A spokesperson for the fire service said the alarm was raised after smoke was seen coming from the property.
She said the cause was a pan which had been left on a cooker.
There was minor damage to the kitchen and the property was ventilated.
