Man stabbed in the torso in Saffron Lane, Leicester

A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the street last night. The 23-year-old was injured in Saffron Lane, Leicester at 7.30pm. An area of Robin Close, at the junction of Saffron Lane, was taped off by police until approximately 1.30pm. Police said the victim was stabbed in the torso and is in a serious but stable condition today. Witnesses said the injured man walked the short distance from the scene of the incident to the nearby BP petrol station, where staff alerted the emergency services.
A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "Detectives are investigating after a man was seriously injured in an incident last night. "Emergency services were called to Saffron Lane, Leicester, at about 7.30pm where a man had sustained a puncture wound. "The 23-year-old was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. "Initial inquiries are being conducted at the scene and the investigation remains ongoing."
