A man was on the run tonight after he jumped out of a security van which was taking him to court.
Adam Herbert absconded as he was being transported to Leicester Magistrates' Court this morning, where he was due to face a charge of burglary.
Police said the 20-year-old, who has links to the New Parks area, escaped from the van as it was stationary at the junction of Highcross Street and Vaughan Way at 9am.
Mr Herbert is white, approximately 6ft 2ins and of medium build. He has short brown hair and was wearing a grey tracksuit and black trainers.
Anyone with information of his whereabouts is urged to call police on 101.
