Leicester City will be under pressure to repeat their impressive six-goal destruction of Ipswich Town, said striker Martyn Waghorn.

The 22-year-old striker, who scored his first goal of the season as City served up a real thumping for the Tractor Boys, said the victory will raise expectations of further beatings.

But, while City can take confidence from their performance, Waghorn said they must retain their focus ahead of two tough away trips to Yorkshire, at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and Leeds United on Tuesday.

"It is going to put a bit of extra pressure on us, having won 6-0, but that is not the be all and end all," he said.

"We need to play well but we take one game as it comes because we have a tough fixture away at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

"If we play well as we can do then the confidence and the ability will come through. It is nice going into the weekend on the back of this result.

"We have played better against other teams but haven't scored the goals. Against Ipswich, it was one of those days, but it gives us a boost going into a busy schedule.

"The boys have been speaking about how we were going to get a good result like that, with the way we have been playing, but this is just one result and we need to take confidence from it and build on it."

Waghorn has been in good form recently since returning to the side following Jamie Vardy's calf injury. But the England under-21 international knows there is fierce competition for a place in City's strike force.

"It is nice to have the competition at the club because it drives us on," he said.

"David Nugent is great to play alongside. He works hard, grafts, is good in the air and can finish. Then there is Jamie, who is back from injury now

"Big Marko Futacs has worked hard and, like me, he has had to wait for his chance. I am pleased for him that he scored on Saturday and it shows the strength in depth we have got in this squad.

"For him to come on and get a goal stakes his claim as well. He is laid back and is a gentle giant but he works hard and has a great strike on him.

"He is still only young, younger than me, and he wants to play football. We have good, healthy competition here at the club."
