Police have urged building firms to step up their security after a number of housing developments were targeted by burglars and vandals.
Officers in Hinckley issued the alert after a number of break-ins in the town and the surrounding area recently.
At some sites thieves have stolen new homes' fitted kitchen equipment as well as plumbing materials.
In some cases show homes have been broken into and vandalised.
Detective Constable Matthew Wiggins said: "We would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this type of crime.
"If you live near a new housing site and spot anything suspicious please call the police straight away.
"We are also urging owners and site managers of new build housing estates to consider extra security measures to try to avoid them becoming a target in the future."
Security measures suggested by police include fitting CCTV and alarms, removing items of value and giving consideration to employing security guards.
