One of the highest paid officers at Leicestershire County Council has left his post. County Hall's assistant chief executive Andy Robinson has moved on after 23 years at the authority. A statement issued by the council said Mr Robinson had asked its chief executive John Sinnott about leaving his £97,000-a-year role "as part of the department staffing reductions." These were due to come into force early next year but it has been agreed mutually that he should leave earlier. An email from Mr Sinnott to council staff, seen by the Mercury, said: "He originally approached me with a view to leaving as part of the departmental staffing reductions but, on reflection, we agreed that he would leave earlier, and his last day of service was last Friday. "Andy has made a significant contribution to Leicestershire's successes in his 23 years of service, and I'm sure you will join me in wanting to wish Andy all the best for the future." The Mercury asked the council if Mr Robinson received any payments on leaving the authority. It declined to comment. Mr Robinson's post has not been scrapped and Mr Sinnott said interim management arrangements would be put in place. His job at the council included overseeing its troubled families scheme to support those with problems including drug and alcohol misuse, anti-social behaviour, domestic violence, and mental health issues. He was also in charge of elements of community engagement and working with the voluntary sector having worked his way up through the ranks from a junior role.
