A raider locked a shopkeeper out of his store while he helped himself to cigarettes.
The man targeted the shop in Charnwood Road, Shepshed while the shopkeeper was outside, at the rear of the premises.
He threatened the shopkeeper, went into the shop and locked the door. While inside he grabbed cigarettes before escaping.
The incident happened at 8pm on Wednesday, December 4. Police released details on Thursday.(DEC 12). Officers did not name the shop.
Pc Eleanor Develin said: "I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw this man and has not yet come forward and spoken to officers.
"I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered cheap cigarettes for sale.
"Please come forward and speak to officers as you could have information which will help catch the offender."
The robber is white, 20 to 30, muscular and 6ft. He was wearing a black coat and dark coloured baseball cap.
