Police have welcomed the prison sentence handed to a man who stole three charity collection boxes from a pub.
Simeon Piwek, (35), of Rossiter Close, Melton was jailed for 18 weeks when he appeared at Market Harborough Magistrates, Court last Friday.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary at The Welby pub in Nottingham Road, Melton Mowbray on Remembrance Day.
He had stolen three charity collection boxes, including one for the Poppy Appeal collecting for Remembrance Day.
He was arrested after his crime was caught on CCTV.
Sgt Simon Williams, of Melton Police, said: "We are pleased with the result in the case.
"Piwek did not only steal from the landlords at The Welby but also from the people who had contributed to each of the charity boxes as well as the charities they had donated to."
