Motorists are being advised to avoid the A47 in Uppingham following a fatal collision between a car and an HGV.
The collision was reported at 12.11pm this afternoon on the A47 in Uppingham, close to the roundabout at the junction of the A6003 and involved a car and a HGV.
Police said that the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
Emergency services have put diversions in place and motorists are being advised to seek an alternative route or expect delays.
Detective Sergeant Mark Watling of the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We anticipate that the road will remain closed for sometime whist the emergency services deal with the incident.
"If anyone witnessed the collision they are advised to speak to the police."
