Richie Wellens has left Leicester City by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old had a year left to run on his City contract, but has reached an agreement with City to be released and he is now free to join another club.
The midfielder made 149 appearances for City, scoring six goals, after being signed by manager Nigel Pearson in July, 2009 for an undisclosed fee from Doncaster Rovers.
However, he made only two appearances last season as he battled back from a knee ligament injury and spent a spell out on loan at Ipswich Town.
