Some 50 firefighters tackled a blaze at Croft Quarry last night.
A total of eight crews from around Leicesershire fought the fire which broke out in a building at the quarry in Marions Way, off Coventry Road in Croft.
A member of the public raised the alarm at 6.48pm last night after seeing smoke coming out of the 45m high building.
A fire which started on a conveyor belt quickly spread throughout the 40m x 100m building.
The fire crews had extinguished the blaze by 3.30am but returned at 8am this morning to search for hot spots.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
