A royal row erupted in the House of Commons today as MPs fought for their constituencies to house the suspected remains of King Richard III. Party colleagues openly bid against each other for the honour of receiving the late monarch's skeleton - if tests prove it is his. John Mann, Labour MP for Bassetlaw, wanted it "to be known to the warring factions of York and Leicester that the great priory of Worksop - halfway between the two and the centre of the kingdom of Richard III - can provide the most appropriate final resting place for the King''. But Labour colleague Jon Ashworth, who represents Leicester South, said: "I am sure Worksop has many fine qualities, but given it was the Grey Friars who took the body of Richard and buried him at what was then the Grey Friars' church, a site which is today just a stone's throw from Leicester Cathedral, and he has been in Leicester for 500 years, it would be most appropriate that he is finally laid to rest at Leicester Cathedral.''
