Hackers took control of one of Leicester City Council's Twitter accounts today tweeting four-letter expletives to its followers. The account for the council's adult skills and learning services - @LASALS - was hijacked at around 11am. Two messages containing swear words were sent to the 270 followers before staff realised what had happened. The offensive tweets were promptly deleted. A city council spokeswoman said: "The LASALS Twitter account was hacked and two offensive tweets were posted. "As soon as we spotted them, they were deleted and an apology was immediately tweeted. "User names and passwords have now been changed and we will be reminding staff to be vigilant at all times. "We would like to apologise for the inappropriate language that briefly appeared on the LASALS Twitter feed this morning." The spokeswoman said hacking was an isolated incident and that no other council IT security measures had been compromised.
