Police are warning people to be vigilant after an increase in mobile phone thefts in Bede Park, Leicester.
The majority of thefts have involved a person on a bicycle riding by the victim and snatching the phone.
Officers said that in the past 28 days, 10 mobile phones and tablets have been stolen in the area, which is near De Montfort University and Western Boulevard.
Sgt Will Cheshire said "Although only a few offences, it is a concern so I would like to raise awareness, ask people not to carry their phones around on show, be aware of who is around them and consider registering your expensive items such as phones, laptops, ipads, etc on the free property register at www.immobilise.co.uk.
"When registering phones you will need your IMEI number. You can obtain this by typing in *#06#. Installing a 'find my phone' application is also advisable, as if you are a victim of crime and your phone is taken, it can help the Police track it".
Anyone with any information about the thefts is urged to contact police on 101.
