Jamie North of Glen Drive, has pleaded guilty of the manslaughter of 42-year-old Neil Corby, whose body was found in a flat in Gaol Street, Oakham on 20 September 2011.
North, who also pleaded guilty to common assault, will be sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on 15 February.
Adam Barker, 34, of Willoughby Gardens, Oakham, was also charged with Mr Corby's murder and unlawful wounding causing grievous bodily harm to another man. The murder charge has been dropped and Barker pleaded not guilty to a lesser charge of causing actual bodily harm. He will be tried at Leicester Crown Court on 16 March and has been released on bail until then.
