Leicester City face a baptism of fire on their return to the Premiership - with Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United among their first five games. The Foxes will play Everton on Saturday, August 16 - their first game in the Premier League in 10 years. The Merseyside club has undergone a resurgence under Roberto Martinez's stewardship, finishing fifth last season. Fans have spoken about facing a tough start, but have adopted a "bring it on" attitude. Cliff Ginetta, chairman of Leicester City Supporters Club, said: "That's where we wanted to be - in the big league up against the big teams and they don't come much bigger than those. "I was a bit shocked to see we're up against so many of the big clubs so quickly, but I am glad to see we are opening against a big club like Everton. "It would have been a disappointment if it had been QPR or Burnley. "I am very optimistic we'll do well and it gives us the opportunity to get some of the bigger clubs out of the way early on. "It's a very, very tough start but with the right players I'm sure we can do well. These are exciting times." Gary Silke, editor of The Fox fanzine, said: "It's a bit scary. It will be tough, but there's no reason why they can't fight their way through that lot. "After 10 years of waiting for the fixtures lists to come out and thinking, 'Is that it?' this one's a bit different. I'm looking forward to it." Lance Tomlyn, chairman of the Leicester City Independent Supporters Club, said: "It's a tough start, but it gets a bit easier after that - but they're all going to be tough anyway. "You can't decide where you're going to get your points beforehand. "Nigel Pearson is very stable and measured in what he does and I think he will take it as it comes, it won't completely phase him. "I'm sure Everton aren't delighted about playing a newly promoted club in their first game." Social media sites were alive with comments following the announcement yesterday.(WEDS) Iain Robinson tweeted "Everton on opening day of the season! Wow! Tough game, but can't wait to get the season started!" Tough start but cannot wait." Ollie Curzon posted: " First five fixtures... Just.... Wow... This is what it's all about #believe #lcfc." Daniel Chapman tweeted: "Tough start for the boys! Bring it on!!" While Chris Sansome said: "I'd much rather play the big teams at the start of the season. That's when it's easiest to beat them as a promoted side." Maria Bontoft tweeted: "A tough start to the season, but that's what we've been waiting for." What do you think about the fixtures? Police have appealed for help solving the mystery of a series of vandalism attacks on the same car. Vandals have slashed the Ford Focus' tyres five times in the past 11 months. The owners, who live in Blackbrook Court, Greenhill, Coalville, have told police they have no idea why the car is being targeted. The most recent incident between 11am on Saturday, June 7 and 7am the next day. The previous incidents happened in August and September last year and in March this year. Police community support officer Mark Ball, of Coalville police station, said: "The owner of the vehicle does not know why their vehicle has been targeted and each incident of damage has caused a lot of unnecessary expense and inconvenience. "If you have any information about who may be responsible, please do not hesitate to get in touch." Contact Pcso Ball on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

Graduate spends £10,000 student loan on cosmetic surgery in bid to become model

A graduate has told how she spent her £10,000 student loan on cosmetic surgery in the hope of becoming a model. Katerina Christodoulou, of Loughborough, said she hated her "wobbly" thighs and "uneven" breasts, so saved her loan payments to pay for her dream body. Instead of buying books for her English literature course at the University of Essex, she bought liposuction. The 21-year-old said: "I could have spent my loan on my studies but I was lucky enough to have a supportive family who helped pay for my books and social life. This allowed me to save my money." Katerina has now temporarily quit her job as a trainee solicitor to become a model. "I'm a hundred times more confident than before," she said. "I have done some modelling since my surgery but I've just started work as a recruitment consultant. "I started saving up for liposuction in my first year at university. "I hated my natural shape, so I had liposuction under my bum, inner thighs, hips and around my knee. "I found they were stubborn areas where the fat just wouldn't shift. "I have always exercised throughout my life so I knew I couldn't get rid of the excess weight without surgery - it really was a last resort." Katerina was supported throughout university by her parents and was able to get by without the use of her loan. "I did think about using the money to put a deposit down on a house," she said. "But then I thought, 'why not use the money to make myself happy now.' "My ex-boyfriend then treated me to a new set of boobs as that was another area of my body I disliked. "I know some people might be surprised to hear that I spent my student loan on my body, but it was worth it for how I feel now. "My parents gave me their blessing and were really supportive." When Katerina graduated in 2013, she not only left university with a degree, but also enough money to pay for her lipo. Katerina said: "I was so happy to graduate university with a 2:1, but it also meant that I finally had the money for the surgery." Katerina had liposuction and breast surgery at the MYA Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. "One of my boobs was a 32A and the other was a B," she said. "My partner at the time bought my 32E boobs." Katerina is now planning to have a nose job. "I am going to have to get a finance plan for this but I think after my next operation I'll be completely happy. "The next time I'll undergo surgery will be for a face lift when I'm older." A spokesman for the MYA Cosmetic Surgery Clinic said: "Katerina is an excellent example of intelligent women who wish to improve their self-esteem."

Leicester City 2014-15 fixtures makes dream a reality, says Danny Drinkwater

The release of the Premier League fixtures has made Leicester City's promotion dream a reality for midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

It has been a whirlwind of civic functions, celebrations and holidays since City lifted the Football League trophy on that memorable final day of last season.

Drinkwater admits it has been like a dream, but the announcement of City's fixtures has made their achievement a reality and he said he is champing at the bit to get back into training and prepare to take on some of the Premier League's elite.

"It is special for the players when the fixtures come out," he said.

"It makes me excited and I am sure the rest of the players are.

"It is just great when you know who your first game is against. It is exciting.

"It has been constant madness since the end of the season but, now the fixtures are released, we will all be dying for the season to start.

"We have less than three weeks until we return to pre-season. I am excited and I am sure all the players and staff will be excited too.

"We are all looking forward to the start of the season."

City have a tough start as they face Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in their first five fixtures, and Drinkwater's midfield partner Matty James said it still felt like a dream.

"You look at the teams we'll be up against and it's the stuff dreams are made of," he said.

"As a professional, they're the games you want to be involved in and I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait.

"I don't think you can look at any team in the Premier League and think, 'That's going to be an easy game' or 'We can get three points there', so it was going to be a challenge whoever we came up against.

"You can't turn up anywhere expecting to win. Maybe playing Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the first five games will help us. There's nothing like playing the top sides to settle the nerves.

"They're the games we all want to play in. You can't be scared of them, it's what the Premier League is all about.

"You've just got to go into every game believing you can win it, playing positively and trying to win it. We might cause a few upsets along the way."

Court points to grandad's 30-year cannabis habit in adoption hearing

A three-year-old boy is to be placed for adoption after a family court judge ruled his grandfather was not a suitable guardian due to a smoking habit and drug use.

The toddler's 17-year-old mother, who was 14 when she gave birth, had opposed an application by Leicestershire County Council for her son to be placed for adoption.

She had suggested if she was not be allowed to keep the boy, her father and his partner should care for him instead.

However, Judge Clifford Bellamy ruled the youngster should be placed for adoption after concerns were raised about the grandfather's suitability to look after him.

Details of the case emerged in a written ruling by Judge Bellamy after a family court hearing in Leicester.

The judge said the county council had asked him to order the boy be placed for adoption.

An assessment of the grandfather's suitability had raised a "number of areas of concern," the judge said – including a history of domestic violence, worries about excessive drinking, problems with anxiety and depression, drug abuse and smoking.

The man had told how he had been a smoker for several years and had used cannabis regularly for about 30 years.

He claimed not to have used cannabis since late 2013 – when he had decided to give up his habit, the ruling said.

But, the judge said, the man had been unable to quit smoking, despite seeking help from a GP.

Judge Bellamy said this was significant.

"He has been a smoker for several years," said the judge.

"While smoking is not necessarily a contra-indicator to his suitability as a long-term carer for (his grandson), it is significant in the context of his ability to give up habit-forming behaviour, even with professional support.

"His inability to give up his long-term smoking habit, even with professional support, casts some doubt on the reliability of his assertion that in December 2013 he gave up a 30-year cannabis dependency by sheer force of willpower, without any professional support."

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson relishing tough start to Premier League campaign

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson said his side are relishing their tough start to their first Premier League campaign in 10 years.

In their opening five fixtures, City take on four of the sides expected to be challenging for the title and Champions League qualification.

Pearson's champions kick off at home to Everton, who finished fifth last season, on Saturday, August 16, before heading to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday, August 23.

Arsenal are then the visitors to the King Power Stadium on Saturday, August 30, before City head to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke.

There is no let-up for City as they then entertain Louis van Gaal's Manchester United on Saturday, September 20, to cap a difficult first five fixtures.

It is a twist of irony for City that their opening game is against the Toffees, who they also face in a prestigious pre-season friendly in Thailand.

"The day the fixtures come out is always an exciting one for supporters as it starts the countdown to the new season," said Pearson.

"It's a bit special this year as we'll be back in the Premier League after a long absence, and there are a lot of attractive fixtures for fans to look forward to.

"Starting against Everton is going to be a big challenge. They had a very good season, have a manager who has made a big impact since joining them and a squad with some very good players.

"But every game at this level will be a big test and we will have to make sure we're ready by preparing as well as we possibly can.

"Pre-season is always an important time as it gives your players a base from which to work ahead of a long season.

"Stepping up a division makes this one as important as ever, so when we return we'll be fully focused on being ready for Everton on the opening weekend and every challenge beyond that."

Four of City's last six games are at home, to Swansea, Newcastle, Southampton and, on the final day, QPR.

Leicester City Opinion: Pearson's men can spring some early-season shocks

$
0
0

Welcome to the Premier League! On the face of it, it is difficult to imagine a tougher start for Leicester City in their first season back in the Premier League for more than a decade.

Four of the first five fixtures are against sides expected to be challenging for Champions League qualification at the very least – Everton (h), Chelsea (a), Arsenal (h) and Manchester United (h).

Sandwiched in between is a trip to the Britannia Stadium, a notoriously difficult ground to go to as City found out in the FA Cup last season.

City fans may look at that opening run of matches and think it is a real baptism of fire, but Nigel Pearson's men must not look at those fixtures with any fear or trepidation.

After all, this is what City fans have been wanting for more than 10 years, and this is what Pearson's squad have been fighting for over the past few campaigns – to take on the elite of English football, and they are getting an early taste of it.

Following the initial wince when the fixtures came through, on reflection it is a mouth-watering start.

After dominating the Championship last season, City go into the new campaign with momentum and confidence sky-high.

When better to take on the best sides in the division than when your tails are up?

There will be no expectation on City and they will have nothing to lose. They can play with freedom in the knowledge that, whatever they take from those first five games will be considered a bonus

And I would not bet against City springing the odd surprise, especially as many of their opponents' players will have been in World Cup action and could be either fatigued or lacking in pre-season fitness. Three of those games, Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United, are at home as well, and they will not fancy coming to a packed King Power Stadium with a red-hot cauldron of an atmosphere when City are so fired up at the start of the season.

City have been straining at the leash ever since promotion to the Premier League was confirmed and they are about to be released. They will come out of the traps flying.

Of course, there is the thought of what could happen to that confidence and belief should City lose all five and even take the odd drubbing, but I don't think that will happen.

The real plus point for City from this fixture list is that, having got all the big hitters out of the way early in the season, they will avoid the scenario that relegated Norwich faced at the end of the last campaign.

Just when they needed the points desperately, the Canaries had an impossibly tough run-in.

If City are battling for survival, their run-in will at least give them a good chance.

After the trip to White Hart Lane on March 21, City entertain West Ham, travel to West Brom, take on Swansea at home, go to fellow Premier League new boys Burnley, then entertain Newcastle and Southampton on home soil before heading to Sunderland.

They then finish as they started, at home, against play-off winners QPR.

If last season was anything to go by, West Brom, West Ham and Sunderland could struggle, and Burnley and QPR could be in the same boat. That initial pain could lead to some considerable pleasure for fans.

Mum watches in horror as moped rider knocks downs her son and flees scene

A mother has told how she watched in horror as a moped rider rode off after knocking down her seven-year-old son.

Sarah McGoldrick's son, Charlie, was knocked over in Epinal Way, Loughborough, on June 11.

The mother-of-four was walking her children back from school when the accident happened shortly after 3.30pm.

She said a moped overtook a car which had stopped to let the family cross the road and collided with Charlie, who was on his bike.

"As we went to cross the road, I saw this moped swerving towards us," said Sarah, of Loughborough.

"It missed my other child, but drove straight into Charlie."

Sarah said Charlie was knocked to the ground but was protected by his bike, which fell on top of him. The moped then fell on to his bike.

Sarah said the man picked up his moped up and rode off.

"I thought he was just getting up – I didn't think he'd leave," she said.

"I was gobsmacked that he just rode off. It's horrifying."

As soon as she realised the man was leaving the scene, Sarah shouted to passersby to "stop that bike". However, he was not caught.

Charlie, who was wearing a helmet, escaped with just cuts and bruises.

In tears, he managed to walk over to the central reservation.

"Luckily, Charlie was wearing his helmet, or else it could have been so much worse," said Sarah.

"And he was protected by his bike but the force from the moped completely destroyed it."

Passersby called the emergency services and Charlie was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

Sarah said her children were now scared to cycle to school.

"I know it was an accident and at first, I didn't blame the moped rider," she said. "But it wasn't acceptable for him to drive off. It's unbelievable."

Police confirmed that the rider left the scene of the collision.

A force spokeswoman said officers were appealing for witnesses and that inquiries were ongoing.

Anyone with any information about the incident should contact Leicestershire Police on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, which is free and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

Thugs on bicycles carry out 38 ride-by robberies in Leicester in two weeks

Thugs on bikes have carried out 38 ride-by robberies in Leicester in just two weeks.

In each of the incidents, the riders approached victims from behind and snatched gold chains from their necks, or phones from their hands.

The attacks happened in the first two weeks of the month, chiefly in the city centre and Belgrave areas.

Police said the ride-by robberies flared up after a quiet period.

In 25 cases, the thieves escaped with their victims' phones.

Most of the 13 jewellery thefts were in the Belgrave area, with a small number in the city centre.

Officers are now advising women to cover necklaces when in the street, or avoid wearing them. People are also being urged to be aware of who is around when using mobile phones.

Inspector Simon Preston, commander of city centre police, said 11 of the phone snatches were in the city centre, three in Belgrave and eight in the Hinckley Road area. The rest were in other areas of the city.

Insp Preston said: "Pushbikes have become the chosen mode of transport for criminals.

"They can approach from behind without making any sound and they can get to different areas of the city quickly via side-streets and alleys.

"It's a sad indictment that we should be advising people to cover their jewellery or keep their phones out of sight as they walk around the city, but while a small number of people are committing these offences it is good advice."

Police have arrested a number of people in connection with the snatch-thefts and inquiries are continuing.

Sergeant Chris Lemon, of Belgrave police, said the increase could be down to the warm weather, as jewellery is more on show.

Officers are patrolling areas where attacks have taken place.

A woman whose gold chain was snatched from her neck by a young rider a year ago has urged people to be cautious.

She said: "I don't wear gold chains during the summer months now because I don't want it to happen to me again.

"When I do wear them at other times of year, I make sure they are covered up while I am outside.

"When my chain was stolen it was all over in a couple of seconds – by the time I realised what had happened, he'd gone.

"I was very upset at the time and I did not feel safe going out.

"Every time I saw a young man in a 'hoodie' on a bike I thought they were going to rob me. I don't feel that way now, but I am still very careful when I go out."

Leicester Tigers: Who is cleverest, the poshest and the biggest bore?

$

Mat Tait reveals the inside story on the Leicester Tigers players.

Q Who reads books in the Leicester Tigers squad?

A Me and Toby Flood. I have just read Wolf of Wall Street. Floody is always reading a book.

Q Who is the Xbox king?

A Dan Bowden was – but now he has had a baby that title has gone. Ben Youngs fills his boots.

Q Who is the biggest romantic?

A Julian Salvi.

Q Who is the biggest rugby bore?

A Geoff Parling or Jamie Gibson. When you are watching a tactics video, Gibbo stands over your shoulder to see what you are looking at. It's really annoying

Q The best practical joker?

A I quite enjoy the odd one. Salvi's car got covered in 'post-it' notes at the start of the year. I can't tell you who did it but he was Irish and his surname was Morris.

Q Dedicated follower of fashion?

A Bowden wears ridiculous hat things with peaks on the side. And the young lads have good high-and-tight haircuts, like Owen Williams.

Q Scruffiest member of the side?

A Probably me.

Q Scariest member of the side?

A Logo Mulipola or Manu Tuilagi.

Q Cleverest member of the side?

A Probably George Chuter. I am trying to think who has got a degree. George has got lots of what I would like to call useless facts, but they are actually quite interesting. Gibbo has a degree in 'Classics' from Cambridge University but it's boring isn't it? Who ever gets to use that in their job. He should have done a proper degree.

Armed police surround house in Leicester

Three people were arrested following a three-hour siege involving armed police and dog units at a house in Belgrave, Leicester, this morning. Residents in Quemby Close, off Loughborough Road, woke to find police tactical teams surrounding the property. At one point, a woman carrying a toddler in her arms ran from the home and was greeted by neighbours and police. Firearms teams, dog handlers and officers were at the scene from about 5am. It followed a tip-off about an earlier incident involving what was reported to be a knife and shotgun, which happened at 11pm on Wednesday in Newfoundpool, and left one person injured. However, police would not say how the incidents were connected. Yesterday, residents in Quemby Close were shocked to see such a large police presence in the area. Passerby Vishal Chauhan, 25, who was on his way to work, said: "I wasn't expecting to see anything like this - I was just heading to work. "There were police surrounding this house, they'd blocked off the road, and then there were lots of armed police as well, so it looked quite serious." A number of eyewitnesses said they woke to the sound of the siege at about 7.30am. One woman, who asked not to be named, said: "I opened my grandson's curtains at about 7.30am to get him up and saw all the cars and police. "It's the first time I've seen anything like this. I have no idea what's going on." Her neighbour, Rasik Bharkhada, 58, said: "I went out for a walk at 7.30am and they were all there. It looked serious." Police confirmed the siege was part of an investigation into reports of the incident involving the weapons - which officers are still to locate - in Bateman Road, Newfoundpool. Armed response units were first called there at 11pm, on Wednesday. However, a tip-off led firearms teams three-miles across the city to Belgrave, where they set up a cordon yesterday. Quemby Close was completely closed off as officers and paramedic cars lined the street and blocked off the junction with Loughborough Road. At about 8am, a woman ran from the direction of the siege house with a small girl in her arms. She was followed by four more youngsters, who appeared to be moving away from the home. They huddled around the woman, who was talking with officers outside of the cordon. Neighbours, still in their nightwear, took out food for the children. A second woman, dressed in pyjamas, was shouting at officers. A police spokeswoman said a 20-year-old woman, 41-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the incident. She said: "Police were called at around 11pm, on Wednesday evening, to an incident of public order in Bateman Road involving a knife and what was initially described as a shotgun. "In the interest of public and officer safety firearms officers attended the scene and inquiries led officers to an address in Quemby Close. "From initial inquiries it is believed the weapon involved may have been an air weapon. "One person sustained minor injuries in the initial public order incident. No weapons have been recovered. "Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."

A four-man Leicester Tigers contingent has been named to start for England in their third and final Test match against New Zealand in Hamilton on Saturday. In the half-backs, Ben Youngs and new signing Freddie Burns come in to replace injured duo Danny Care and Owen Farrell, while Geoff Parling keeps his place in the second town after two huge performances so far. Manu Tuilagi keeps his place in the side and, crucially, he is moved from the wing to the centres after last week's largely unsuccessful experiment in Dunedin. Tuilagi will partner Bath's Kyle Eastmond as Luther Burrell and Billy Twelvetrees make way. There are three changes in the pack where Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes and Billy Vunipola start.

Drivers face delays after lorry fire on M1 in Leicestershire

A lorry was engulfed in flames on the M1 in Leicestershire this morning, causing huge delays for motorists. The northbound carriageway of the motorway, between junction 22 to Coalville and junction 23a to East Midlands Airport, was closed for about nine hours while fire crews tackled the blaze and debris was removed from the scene. Firefighters said the lorry, which contained beds and mattresses, went up in flames shortly after 8.30am. The vehicle shed its load of mattresses, which also set on fire. Pete Trayner, a fire monitoring officer who was overseeing the operation, said: "When we got there the whole lorry and its trailer were completely engulfed in flames. "There were flames which were 30 feet high. The fire was very fierce as there was a lot of combustible material burning." Mr Trayner said it took about 30 minutes to get the flames under control. However, firefighters then had to check the mass of mattress springs left after the mattresses had burned out. Recovery and resurfacing work then had to be carried out. Mr Trayner, station manager at Leicester's Central station, said: "The Highways Agency called for a lorry and JCB. The JCB picked up masses of springs at a time and took them to the rear of the vehicle, so we could make sure that there were no pockets of fire left within them. "They then arranged for a low loader to come and take the shell of the burned out lorry away." He said the incident had proved to be a difficult job. "It was very tricky," Mr Trayner said. "It is not often we get to the scene of a fire and the lorry is fully alight - and that it has shed its load on both sides and that is fully alight, too. "Couple that with the problem of the springs then it makes it an unusual and difficult job. "I think all the services there, including the police and the Highways Agency, worked well to deal the situation as professionally as possible." Mr Trayner said he believed that the driver of the lorry, who was not injured, initially tried to tackle the fire himself. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault in the engine of the vehicle. Police closed the carriageway until about 6pm, when two lanes were opened. A spokesman for Area Traffic Control said one lane would be closed "into the evening," until workers were confident that there was no longer a danger from any remaining detritus from the fire, such as oil or other substances. They also needed to check if heat from the flames had damaged the carriageway surface, potentially creating a hazard to road users. The closure caused huge tailbacks and delays of up to two-and-a-half hours for motorists. Diversions were in place, which caused traffic to build up in Loughborough and Coalville. Bus company Arriva Midlands said vehicles in the area experienced delays of up to an hour, and that Loughborough - near junction 23 - was almost at gridlock. Arriva spokeswoman Janet Walton said several services had been hit by the traffic diverted via the A511 towards Coalville. One commuter, who was returning home at about 5.30pm, said: "Traffic was really heavy on the A50 approaching the M1 from Markfield and Copt Oak, but further along there was nothing at all."

Speedway: Leicester Lions crash to defeat at Poole

There was no joy for Leicester in the Elite League fixture at Poole as the Pirates completed a comfortable win by 59 points to 34. It all started rather bleakly for the Rapid Solicitors Lions who found themselves trailing the home side by 13 points to 5 after three races. Maximum points in Heats 1 and 3 for the Pirates where sandwiched in between by a race win for Josh Bates who made the best start and as the race progressed the Lions reserve gradually extended his lead over second placed Kyle Newman. The Pirates went further ahead at the end of Heat 5 through Darcy Ward and Maciej Janowski who had to work hard to find a way past the Lions captain Mads Korneliussen. Ward switched his line to the inside down the back straight and the manoeuvre enabled the Australian to pull alongside Korneliussen entering the third bend and that gave him the advantage to sweep into the lead. The move spurred on Ward's partner Janowski who followed through and into second place. The score-line of 21-9 to the home side enabled the Lions team manager Norrie Allan to nominate Jason Doyle for a tactical ride and the Lions rider delivered double points from his race win. His team partner Krzysztof Buczkowski made sure of second place and the result brought the Lions back into the match and only 5 points adrift of the home team. A second heat advantage followed when Nicolai Klindt on his debut for Leicester posted his first win for his new club but he had to stave off a determined bid from Edward Kennett who kept pressing the Dane throughout the four laps. The result moved Leicester closer to Poole with just three match points now separating the teams. Those two heats turned out to be Leicester's best spell as Poole rallied. Vaclav Milik the Pirates young Czech Republic international cut back on the fourth bend to overtake Korneliussen for second place in Heat 8 to join his team partner Przemyslaw Pawlicki at the front and that was the start of Leicester's collapse. Further disappointment was to follow when the lions reserves could only manage to draw Heat 9. Both hit the front but Max Clegg was unable to hold his position and was passed by the two Poole riders. The outcome of Heat 11 virtually sealed the Lions fate. Janowski forged ahead but his partner Pawlicki hit a bump on the second bend which threw him out towards the fence allowing Doyle and Klindt to move up into the minor positions. Then on the next lap Doyle hit the same bump and almost lost control which gave Pawlicki the chance to gain third place before he catching and passing Klindt. With the progressive now standing at 42-27 the best Leicester achieved over the final four races was a share of the points in Heat 12 as the Pirates stepped up to another level to end the meeting with their best result of the season. For Leicester by and large it was a flat performance where only Josh Bates their teenage reserve came out of the meeting with any credit. The eighteen year old and on his fIrst appearance on the Poole track was Leicester's top scorer with eight points which included two race wins. Poole 59 points: Darcy Ward 14+1, Edward Kennett 10+1, Przemyslaw Pawlicki 8+2, Vaclav Milik 8+1, Maciej Janowski 12+3, Ben Hopwood 3+1 and Kyle Newman 4+1 Leicester 34 points: Jason Doyle 7, Simon Stead 4, Mads Korneliussen 4, Nicolai Klindt 7, Krzysztof Buczkowski 3+1, Josh Bates 8+1 and Max Clegg 1+1
