Therapist cleared of indecently assaulting female client

A therapist has been cleared by a jury of indecently assaulting a female client.

A jury of five men and seven woman acquitted Jamil Mahmood of three counts of sexually assaulting the woman during two therapy sessions.

The 59-year-old married father-of-two denied the allegations, claiming he never behaved in a sexual way and said she may have misinterpreted the acupressure procedure he was using.

Mr Mahmood, a qualified reflexologist who is self-taught in other therapies, claimed he never felt sexually attracted to the complainant, a mother in her early 40s.

Leicester Crown Court was told he had converted the garage at his home in Frinton Avenue, Evington, into a treatment room with two massage beds.

He said that during both therapy sessions with the woman, on March 1 and 7 last year, involving reflexology and massage, his wife was cooking supper in the kitchen on the other side of an unlocked door between the two rooms – and his two grown-up daughters were also in the house.

The complainant said she went to see Mr Mahmood for treatment for back, neck and shoulder pain, after he was personally recommended by two people. She claimed he touched the top of her inner thigh during the first alleged incident.

On her next visit she alleged that he nibbled her ear, touched one of her breasts, massaged her buttocks and felt her private parts.

Mr Mahmood, who is a taxi driver, said he practised alternative therapies as a hobby, helping out relatives and friends of friends.

He said he explained the procedure to the complainant beforehand and massaged close to sensitive areas, but said he never touched her sexually.

He said: "I only wanted to help her feel better, to ease her pain and for her to be more relaxed."

A number of defence witnesses, who have received treatment from Mr Mahmood, praised his work, telling the jury they had greatly benefited from his help and nothing had ever happened to cause them any concern.

Mary Prior, defending, said the complainant, who was uncomfortable during the procedures, may have been confused and misinterpreted events.

However, giving evidence the woman said: "Everything I've said is absolutely true."

The complainant's boyfriend told the court she was deeply upset and crying after the second session with Mr Mahmood and complained of having being touched intimately.

Leicester City's Wes Morgan urges club to sort out new contract

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has urged the club to sort out his contract situation as soon as possible.

Morgan is one of 11 players out of contract at the end of the season but he said he has yet to be made a new offer, or even hold talks over his future.

The 29-year-old said other players were feeling the same as him and hopes City will end the uncertainty.

So far, the contract situation has not affected performances as City sit joint top of the Championship ahead of tomorrow's visit of Millwall.

Morgan said that was down to the professionalism of players, but he said it was in the back of their minds. "I want to get it sorted and I have made that known to the owners and the people upstairs that it would be good to get it sorted," said Morgan, who has expressed his desire to stay at City.

"But nothing has been sorted. I am sure come January something must happen. We will have to wait and see.

"There are a few of us in the same boat and we all feel the same.

"We want to get it sorted, concentrate on the football, get to the end of the season and get promoted.

"We just want it sorted and then crack on with getting promoted."

Morgan was the subject of bids from former club Nottingham Forest during the summer, which were rejected, and speculation is certain to start again in January if he has not signed a new deal.

Morgan insists the players are focused on maintaining City's good start to the season.

"They are a good bunch of lads," said Morgan. "It is important we give our all and win the games.

"All the boys are on the same page regarding that."

Tickets for Kasabian's huge gig at Leicester's Victoria Park went on full sale online and at city venues this morning. Following a small pre-sale yesterday, the bulk of the 35,000 tickets for the show went on sale at 9am. While the majority were available online, some 5,000 were allocated to De Montfort Hall and Visit Leicester, with further tickets on sale at the O2 Academy on the University of Leicester site. First in the queue at De Montfort Hall was Andy Morris, 58, of Knighton, who arrived at 6am. "I wanted to get here early because I don't want to miss the gig of the year," he said. "When you see someone on telly, it's not the same as seeing them live, is it? "I'm an old rocker - I was at first Monsters of Rock in 1980 - so I'm looking forward to this. "We had a great time in the queue - lovely conversation and they brought tea and coffee out. It was great." Graham Gent, 43, of Thurmaston, arrived at 7am and found himself second in line. "I'm a big fan, I've seen Kasabian many times," he said. "This is the biggest gig of the year. It's absolutely fantastic, that they're doing it here, just unbelievable. It says a lot for what they think of Leicester. I'm getting about six tickets for me and my friends who were too lazy to get up." Wayne Morris, 52, of Anstey, also joined the queue this morning. "I like their music and their intelligent songwriting, they're just superb," he said. "I thought it would sell out quickly online so thought I'd come down here. "I think it's a great idea and a lovely homecoming. Kasabian are one of the greatest rock bands on the planet at the moment. Let's get Leicester on the map." Clive Gray, 57, who lives near Victoria park, was picking up tickets as a Christmas present for his son. "I've not got the faintest idea about Kasabian's music but I think it's fantastic the band are coming back and doing something deliberately set up to give people in the city the chance to see them," he said. Jayne Cordiner, of Thurmaston, daughter Caroline, of Evington, and fellow fan Zoe Holden, of Clarendon Park, were all delighted to get tickets. Zoe, 26, said: "It's fantastic, we're really happy." De Montfort Hall spokesman Gabby Miller said: "The gig should sell out and it's a massive homecoming gig so we're very happy to be a part of it by selling tickets here." Tickets were still available online on the main sites, Ticketmaster, Live Nation and See Tickets, at 1.30pm However, even though the gig has not yet sold out, tickets have already cropped up on eBay and online ticket marketplace Stub Hub at inflated prices. In an exclusive interview with the Mercury to announce the gig on Tuesday, Serge said it would be one of the highlights of their career. "It feels like it was just meant to be," he said. "It's going to be the 10-year anniversary of the first album, so it feels right. "It feels like we've been building up to this since the start. We're so excited. Hopefully the whole city will come alive."

Comet Ison may have survived

A small part of Comet Ison appears to have survived its close encounter with the Sun. At first the comet appeared to have fallen apart as it drew closer to the Sun's red hot surface, but early images are indicating that part of it may have survived. The European Space Agency (ESA), an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to space exploration, is now analysing images to see if part of its nucleus remains and could yet create a bright show in the night sky. Astronomy experts from the University of Leicester have been following its progress closely too since the giant ball of ice and rock was initially declared dead when it failed to re-emerge from behind the star with the expected brightness. They hope it will continue to brighten in the coming days. Dr John Bridges, a lecturer in planetary sciences at the University of Leicester, who studies comet dust, is among those who have been watching events unfold keenly and is hoping its nucleus is still intact. The comet, which comes from the outer solar system, was heated up beyond 2,000C as it passed within 1.2 million kilometres of the Sun. Due to this intense heat the giant balls of ice and rock change from a solid state to a gaseous one, which form a circle around it, allowing the comet to become more visible. Ison was first discovered in September by Russian astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok.

So then. June 21, 2014. Got any plans? How about a nice day out at Leicester's Vicky Park? With 35,000 others; Leaping up and down, surging back and forward, sweating, singing, chanting nd steaming in the night air like a kettle with faulty off-switch. Tickets have gone on sale for Kasabian's humongous homecoming gig on Leicester's Victoria Park. It's fair to say that the city will have never seen anything quite like it, even including the One Big Sunday shows at the turn of the century. At the time of writing, the support acts for the day-long Chisit shindig have yet to be announced, although it's possible Mark Morrison has been staring intently at the phone. But if the realitysphere ripped and you suddenly found yourself recast as a singular mix of Harvey Goldsmith, Michael Eavis and Andy from The Charlotte, who would you book for your fantasy festival? Muzzy IzzetFormer Leicester City player. 1. Rolling Stones. "The best rock and roll band in the world. I'd go for the classic Mick Taylor era, from the late 60s/early 70s. That's when they were at their best. There's not another band that can touch 'em." 2. The Beatles. "You can't argue with The Beatles can you? They were only around for eight years - but look at all the music, brilliant music, they left behind." 3. Oasis. "I've seen them a few times. Great live band. Their first two albums - Definitely Maybe and What's the Story? - are classics." 4. Radiohead. "I love Radiohead. I like The Bends., Ok Computer, Pablo Honey - but I even like their way-out weird stuff." 5. Jimi Hendrix. "I've only recently got into Hendrix – I knew his stuff but I never really listened to it, you know? What a brilliant guitar player – and the songs still sound good today."Roger ChapmanLead singer in reformed Leicester rock band, Family. "I heard about this gig - great thing for Leicester, so good on you, Kasabian. "What would I pick? Off the top of my head I'd have: 1. Traffic. 2. Jimi Hendrix. 3. Frank Zappa. 4. Family - am I allowed to put my own band in there? I am aren't I? 5. Cream. "Pick the bones out of that lot. That'd be a good day out."Jordan BirtlesDrummer in Leicester's furiously-tipped reggae act, By The Rivers. 1. Joe Strummer "One of the coolest men that lived. He is without doubt one of my idols. He helped write amazing and passionate music which touched a lot of people because of the situation he lived in." 2. Bob Marley "The King of Reggae, he is the reason I'm so influenced by Reggae music and really why I started to appreciate space, melody and grooves within a song." 3. James Brown "The Godfather of Soul. What more can I say!" 4. Stevie Wonder "A musical genius! He is still going strong after all these years and hasn't given in to some of the harsh realities of the musical lifestyle. Quite an inspirational man!" 5. By The Rivers "Just so I can say I played on the same line up as them! Ha ha."John ButlerSinger/guitarist for Diesel Park West. "I'd say that with Kasabian being on it's already like five bands playing because of all the samples they use. "My five? I'd go with these: 1. The Seekers 2. Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson 3. Paper Lace 4. Brotherhood Of Man 5. The Psychedelic Filberts."Gary SilkeEditor of the Fox fanzine, and co-author of The Lost World of Football (Pitch Publishing). 1. Drunken knifeman who chased children in Coalville is jailed

A drunken man who chased a group of children while armed with a knife has been jailed for 12 months.

Vivian Paul Mackey (55) was first seen brandishing the six-inch blade in a park in Coalville at 8pm on August 29.

He spoke to a man with two women friends in the park, saying: "No-one is going to touch me tonight," before producing the weapon.

The three people backed away and the police were called.

Alan Murphy, prosecuting, said: "The defendant walked off towards a nearby Chinese takeaway, where there was a group of about 15 children.

"He pulled out the knife and started chasing them."

A passer-by confronted Mackey, who hid the knife behind his back.

The man told him it was against the law to carry a knife.

Mackey told him: "Yes, but I've got people after me."

Mr Murphy said he then disturbingly said: "The ambulance is here and people are going to end up inside it, and it's not going to be me."

Mackey went towards the man, who dodged out of the way, before he threw the blade down.

The police arrived, recovered the knife and arrested him.

In interview, Mackey said he took the knife out intending to harm himself, but accepted showing it to a number of people.

Mr Murphy said: "He told the police he brandished it at the children because he wanted them to leave him alone.

"He then suggested he had a mental illness and demons in his head were why he took the knife out."

Mackey, of Winford Crescent, Coalville, admitted threatening behaviour and possessing an offensive weapon. Leicester Crown Court was told he had previously been jailed for making threats to kill.

While on bail, when being assessed for psychiatric treatment within the community, he allegedly re-offended and was remanded into custody.

Sentencing, Judge Michael Pert QC said: "Having adjourned this case last time to explore non-custodial alternatives, you've now thrown away the opportunity to prove you can behave yourself, by not doing so.

"You know how dangerous it is to go wandering around with a knife, particularly when drunk."

Carl Gaskell, mitigating, said Mackey was due before city magistrates in relation to two assaults allegedly committed on bail. He said: "He's very apologetic. His problem is drink. He's been on a detoxification programme while in custody and wants to continue when he's released."

Leicester East MP Keith Vaz urges Government not to make khat illegal

Leicester East MP Keith Vaz has urged the Government to abandon plans to make a herbal stimulant illegal. Khat is popular among Leicester's Somali community and is currently legal. However Home Secretary Theresa May has said the substance will become a Class C drug next year making it illegal to possess and supply. Khat can create a high, increasing alertness, when it is chewed but there are suggestions taking it can exacerbate mental health problems, suppress appetite and increase blood pressure as well as cause insomnia. Mr Vaz, who is chairman of the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, said the decision to make Khat an illegal drug had not been made based on evidence or consultation. He said the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs concluded that no social or medical harm resulted from the use of khat. He added: "Khat is a perfectly legal substance which is imported into this country and where there has been no example of the involvement of people who deal in khat in criminality, nor has there been the police saying it should be stopped."

Leroy Williams jailed for 15 years for failed robbery on Lutterworth bank

A man who took part in a failed attempt to rob a bank was today jailed for 15 years. Leroy Williams was a member of a gang which plotted a raid on Nat West, High Street, Lutterworth earlier this year. A customer feared for his life when Williams and a fellow gang member entered the bank armed with a sawn-off shotgun and a pistol in January this year. Their plot was foiled when the branch's two members of staff safely escaped to a secure room. The two raiders were left alone with a customer who later told police: "I remember one of them saying, 'put one in him'. "The other said, 'it's not worth it'. I then heard a gun discharge. I lay face down. Then I heard them leave." The raiders left empty-handed and were caught after a police helicopter followed their getaway CAR. Williams, (35), of Hallam Crescent East, Braunstone, Leicester, was convicted of attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm following a nine day trial in August. He appeared at Lincoln Crown Court today and was jailed for 15 years. His accomplices were sentenced at earlier hearings. Richard Christopher, (33), of Trigo Close, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, was sentenced to 15 years for robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm. Robert Allen, (34), of Hall Farm Crescent, Broughton Astley, was sentenced to 11 years and six months after admitting robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm. He accompanied Williams into the bank. Bryn Parker, (31), of the Fairway, Saffron Lane, Leicester, was sentenced to 11 years and six months for robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm. Parker also admitted offences of handling stolen goods and common assault and was jailed for an additional six month sentence.. Police said the shotgun has never been found. When officers arrested Allen he had a black holdall bag similar to the one seen on CCTV images taken inside the bank. Six live shotgun cartridges were in the bag. Analysis of the handgun established it fired blanks. Detective Inspector Shaun Orton, who led the investigation, said: "All four men have now been given significant prison sentences. "Had these men not been arrested I'm sure this gang would have gone on to offend again, employing a similar level of incompetency and violence. "The bank staff and customer were put in fear for their own safety when they were simply going about their day to day business and they are the victims in this case. "I hope that the sentences passed will go some way and reassuring them that these men are no longer a risk to the public." The trial took place at Lincoln Crown Court in Ausgust. At its conclusion, Judge Sean Morris told the men: "You were all in this together. "This offence was a carefully planned, professional armed bank robbery. "The staff were made the subject of the most terrifying ordeal as was the customer. "It is something that will live with them for the rest of their lives. You should hang your heads in shame for what you have put them through."

Leicestershire Police launch annual Christmas drink drive campaign

Police have launched their annual Christmas drink drive campaign. The operation, which will run until January 1, will see extra patrols on the roads of the city and county. Officers stressed that they will be stopping drivers they suspect of being over the legal alcohol limit at random locations at all times of day and night. They have warned drivers to be aware that they can still be unfit to drive the morning after their last drink. The force, which catches an average of between 80 and 90 over the limit motorists each month, launched the campaign at St George's Retail Park, near Leicester city centre, today. Graham Compton, the force's road safety officer, said: "Hopefully, with all the work we are doing to warn motorists of the danger of drinking and driving, we'll be able to reduce that average figure during this campaign. "Drinking and driving is a serious criminal offence and people must realise there are serious consequences. "If they cause an accident they could kill or seriously injures others or themselves. "People also have to realise they can still be over the legal limit after a night's sleep." Chief Inspector Steve Potter, of Leicestershire Police, said: "Cracking down on those who drink and then drive is a year round commitment for Leicestershire Police. "However, we are very aware the festive season can present opportunities where people are tempted to drive after drinking. "We would advise drivers to plan ahead by leaving the car at home, sharing a taxi or taking public transport or alternatively nominating a designated driver who will avoid drink alcohol." The campaign was officially launched at St George's Retail Park, near the city centre, during one of the force's regular Fatal Four operations. Between 8am and 12pm officers stopped 40 motorists who were either speeding, not wearing a seat belt or were using a mobile phone. All 40 were tested for excess alcohol but none were over the limit. Driving without a seatbelt, speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel and drinking and driving are the four most common causes of crashes. Also, three people were handed over to immigration officials who are assessing their right to be in the UK.

Leicester Tigers match verdict: Toby Flood is the star in vital win against Gloucester

$

Seventeen points from the boot of Toby Flood condemned Gloucester to their fourth home defeat of the season in the Aviva Premiership as Leicester Tigers secured a 22-17 victory. Dan Bowden was Leicester's sole try-scorer as poor goal kicking from Gloucester proved their downfall. Rob Cook converted Jonny May's try with Freddie Burns slotting over from his own breakaway try but both men missed two penalties apiece as Gloucester went down to another morale-sapping defeat. Gloucester wing Shane Monahan made his first Premiership start of the season in place of the injured Charlie Sharples. In the back division, Henry Trinder and Dan Robson were preferred to Mike Tindall and Jimmy Cowan with Darren Dawiduik and Lua Lokotui recalled to the pack. For Leicester, Blaine Scully and Marcos Ayerza returned from their international duties with Ayerza forming a strong front-row unit with Dan Cole and Tom Youngs. Leicester failed to gather the kick-off which provided the momentum for the hosts to have the better of the opening 10 minutes. Cook, Monahan and May all ran strongly to threaten the Tigers' defence and they should have taken the lead but Burns missed a straightforward penalty. Almost immediately, Burns made amends by intercepting Flood's pass to race unopposed for 50 metres for the opening try which the outside-half converted front of the posts. Leicester soon responded with their first points when Flood kicked a penalty after the home side were penalised for a scrummage offence. Gloucester dominated the opening quarter but they could not capitalise as Burns made a dreadful hash of a drop goal attempt and then was badly astray with a penalty. Burns continued to make crucial errors, this time by kicking the ball straight into touch when under no pressure. At the ensuing line-out, Gloucester were penalised allowing Flood to kick his second penalty and reduce the arrears to only point. Flood should have put Tigers ahead but missed a penalty as his side picked up their game to have a greater share of possession and territory. Leicester were rewarded when following a set-scrum, Ben Youngs robbed Dan Robson of the ball allowing Flood to sent Dan Bowden in for the try which Flood converted. With the last play of the half, Leicester looked set to extend their lead by producing a magnificent 60-metre movement, which gained them position 10 metres out from the home line. A Leicester try appeared to be the likelihood but Miles Benjamin's pass was intercepted for Gloucester to counterattack. Trinder booted the ball into the opposition half where it sat up perfectly for May to collect and run in for the try which Cook converted for a 14-13 half-time lead. After the restart, Cook missed an early penalty before Gloucester suffered another blow when their captain Tom Savage was forced to leave the field with a shoulder injury. Cook failed again as Gloucester continued to squander points, which resulted in Billy Twelvetrees becoming his side's third goal kicker and he made no mistake with his first opportunity. Gloucester dominated the third quarter as the visitors could not get out of their half but Twelvetrees' penalty was their only reward as they took a four point lead into the final 20 minutes. Flood kicked his third penalty as Leicester staged a late rally. Cook saved his side with an excellent cover tackle on Scully but Leicester were not to be denied as two further penalties from Flood saw the Tigers home.

Leicester Riders took a crucial lead on the road in the first leg of their BBL Cup semi-final after beating Plymouth Raiders 95-89. Riders dominated the game throughout, with a flurry of late three-pointers by the home team keeping them very much in the tie, with the second leg at the John Sandford Centre in a week's time. Jay Couisnard led the way for Riders with 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while Rashad Hassan chipped in with 20 points, five rebounds and two assists. Drew Sullivan made his presence felt by adding 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Anthony Downing made 17 points in a well-balanced Leicester attack. margin Riders started the game at a canter, Couisnard showing the way with the first scores of the game to take Leicester into an early 5-0 lead. Couisnard then hit a three and, with Riders dominating the boards, particularly at the offensive end, the visitors were good value for a 29-17 first-quarter lead. They held that margin four minutes into the second period, but a Trevor Setty three sparked an 8-0 Raiders run, and Leicester's lead was cut to 37-35. Sullivan steadied the ship with a dunk, and Riders held on for a narrow 43-41 half-time lead. Riders came out strong at the start of the second half with a Sullivan three, and that was followed up by five points in a row from Couisnard to build a 55-47 advantage four minutes into the third quarter. Three points in a row by Couisnard and a three-pointer from Jorge Calvo helped that lead out to 13, before a late Plymouth flurry closed Riders' lead to 71-61 at the third-quarter break. Hassan hit two consecutive baskets in the first minute of the fourth quarter to stretch Riders' lead to 75-63 at the start of the fourth. Riders stayed in control for much of the period before good play from Setty on the boards, followed up with a three by the same player, cut Riders lead to six. Couisnard responded with another three of his own, and a three-point play by Sullivan had Riders 11 clear with just over a minute left. But late threes by Donald Robinson and Matt Pressey left the tie nicely balanced. Plymouth: Robinson 30, Setty 14, Pressey 13, Walker 10, Doumbe 7, Woods 6, Eaves 4, Hoskins 3, Sayers 2, Hall 0, Peard 0. Riders: Couisnard 21, Hassan 20, Sullivan 19, Downing 17, Anderson 6, Rowe 5, Calvo 3, Gamble2 , Lamble 0, Noel 0.

Leicester City v Millwall: Predictions for all the Championship games

What will the score be when Leicester City welcome Millwall to the King Power Stadium tomorrow? That's the question we are asking Leicester Mercury sports writer James Sharpe, who gives us his prediction and also casts his eye over all this weekend's Championship fixtures. Don't agree? Think you can do better? Have a go yourself. Put your predictions in the comments section and see if you can beat him. It's 3pts for a correct score and just 1pt for the correct result. Mercury reader foxmanlondon returned to form with an impressive 15pt return last week, thanks to four correct scores and three correct results. And with that he returned to the top of the league table. There is a three-way tie for second with Sharpe, and Mercury readers Alanprichard and Luxpaul all level on 55 points.
LEICESTER CITY v MILLWALL King Power Stadium, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: For the third time this season, City responded to defeat with victory thanks to David Nugent's double at Ipswich. Millwall may be down the lower reaches of the Championship but they are one of City's bogey teams, having done the double over them for the past two seasons. But City are stronger this season, more adept at grinding out results in tough games. City welcome back Anthony Knockaert too, which will be a huge creative boost, and I just think they will be too strong for Steve Lomas's side. Prediction: 2-1
NOTTINGHAM FOREST v READING City Ground, Friday, 7.45pmVerdict: Forest followed up their victory over City with a good point at home to Burnley last weekend. Reading's form, meanwhile, has been somewhat disappointing. Three draws and a defeat in their last four has seen them slip outside the play-off places. Forest have lost just once at home this season but their squad is currently rife with injuries – in key positions too. I think this could cost them two points.Prediction: 1-1
BOURNEMOUTH v BRIGHTON Dean Court, Saturday, 12.15Verdict: Despite starting the season so brightly after winning promotion from League One, Bournemouth have started to dip in recent weeks. Without a win in their last five with three defeats along the way, and Eddie Howe's side have slipped to 16th. Brighton, meanwhile, are flying with three straight wins and unbeaten in five. Away win for me.Prediction: 1-2
BARNSLEY v BIRMINGHAM Oakwell, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Barnsley are struggling this season and currently sit second-from-bottom in the Championship table. However, much of this is due to their woeful away record of just one point from their eight games on the road. They are not brilliant at home but are much more resilient. They are unbeaten in four at home with three draws and a win. Birmingham beat Huddersfield away from home last time out but that was only their first win on their travels since the first day of the season.Prediction: 1-1
BLACKBURN v LEEDS Ewood Park, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Blackburn have had an extremely inconsistent season – they lie 14th in the table after five wins, five draws and six defeats. Leeds, on the other hand, are in a rich vein of form. They have won three on the bounce and five in their last seven. You never know what you are going to get with Blackburn but, on the whole, I think Leeds are favourites.Prediction: 0-2
BLACKPOOL v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY Bloomfield Road, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Blackpool came flying out the blocks early in the season but have since began to stutter and are currently suffering that common Championship complaint: inconsistency. Wednesday are yet to win a game on the road all season although have drawn five of their eight away league games this season. Having said that, I still think Blackpool will be too much for the Owls.Prediction: 2-0
CHARLTON v IPSWICH The Valley, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Chris Powell's men come into this fixture on the back of an excellent 2-0 win over Doncaster while Ipswich will still be reeling from Nugent's brace. I can't see this being the most enticing of contests but Charlton may just have enough to nick it.Prediction: 1-0
DONCASTER v QPR Keepmoat Stadium, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: QPR's result-grinding machine continued last week with yet another 1-0 victory. Harry Redknapp's side doesn't score many goals, in fact they have scored the fewest goals of any of the top 10 team. But they are so difficult to break down and I can't see Doncaster having the firepower or creativity to do so.Prediction: 0-1
HUDDERSFIELD v BURNLEY John Smith's Stadium, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Burnley may be top of the table on goal difference but their actual form isn't stunning. They are without a win in three games in the league after a hat-trick of draws. A trip to mid-table Huddersfield shouldn't cause Sean Dyche's side too many problems though and I see them getting back to winning ways.Prediction: 0-2
MIDDLESBROUGH v BOLTON Riverside Stadium, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Since Boro's 4-0 victory over Doncaster, things have taken a downward turn with two defeats and a draw in their last three. Bolton, though, are finally starting to turn on the style – as is a certain Jermaine Beckford. He has netted in each of his last three games, all of which Bolton have won. I wouldn't bet against him doing it again tomorrow.Prediction: 1-2
WATFORD v YEOVIL Vicarage Road, Saturday, 3pmVerdict: Watford's poor run of form, with three defeats and two draws in their last five, has seen them slip out of the play-off places and down to 10th. They couldn't wish for a better chance to get back to winning ways though against a Yeovil side who have lost three on the bounce. I think they'll take that chance.Prediction: 3-1
WIGAN v DERBY DW Stadium, Sunday, 3pmVerdict: Wigan are another side that are struggling for consistency in the rough and tumble of the Championship. Having Europa League commitments can't help them either. They lost their first home game of the season last week against Brighton and Sunday's clash will be even tougher against a Derby side that is impressing under Steve McClaren. I'm really looking forward to this game and think it could well be a close one.Prediction: 1-1
Forest's game against Reading kicks off tonight at 7.45pm so make sure you get your predictions in before then to make it count. City play Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night but, as always, the predictions are just for the weekend games and will be back next week for the trip to Brighton.
